About Me/关于我

For English Readers:

Who am I?

I am Jincheng Leng, from China. Stephen Leng is my English name, and it is easier to pronounce. My primary identity is a Ph.D. student at Zhejiang University, Hangzhou. My research topic focused on intellectual history, history of emotion, philosophy of history, humanistic philosophy and psychology. During 2023, I am a visiting student at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, USA.

The name of my blog is “The Reasons of the Heart“. It is taken from a quote from Blaise Pascal:”The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of… We know the truth not only by the reason, but by the heart.”

My articles deal with essays, cultural critics, psychology, international studies, and technology.

All my posts are written in simplified Chinese, but my prospective readers are all people using Chinese worldwide, including traditional and simplified, native and non-native. The contents can be understood or even resonated universally — if we forget the linguistic barriers.

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to run a multiple-language blog. My English writing will post on other media, not here. So it is difficult for people who never learned Chinese to read my blog, although there are some great translation extensions for browsers. Sorry for that.
