Intellectual History, Philosophy of History, and Theory of Human Nature

Stephen Leng’s research focuses on intellectual history in the 18-19th century (including Kant, Hegel, Schopenhauer and Freud), philosophy of history, and philosophy of humanism based on the theory of human nature.

As a public writer, I explore a wide range of genres, including cultural criticism, psychology, creative essays, short stories, and reflections on technology. My main focuses are the relationship between the good life and human nature, and a critical reflection on modern Chinese culture as well as modern culture in general.
